Friends
My friend Jennifer came over with her kiddos last weekend. Alexia, Marcus and Nicolas. They are such sweet kids. A couple of nights ago they came over with homemade Christmas cards and a Christmas gift for Drew: stacking blocks and a book. Drew loves both! Jennifer and I worked together at the ALS Association and we became really good friends. I'm glad we are staying in touch even though we don't work together anymore. Monday, December 15, 2008
And the winner is...
After we picked out our tree, the tree men(don't know what else you call them), drug the tree through the mud and put it in the back of the truck. I was adjusting Drew's hood, not looking where I was going and ran smack dab into the part of the tree that was hanging out the back. It hurt a little bit, but I was totally unaware that it left it's mark on my face...until Jamie kindly pointed it out. And then took this lovely picture to commemorate the occasion.

Baby's First Christmas Tree
Oh Christmas Tree
Last weekend, before we left the mountains, we stopped to pick up our Christmas tree. Coming from the land of fields and farming, I find Christmas tree farms to be quite intriguing. Andy told me it takes eight years for a Christmas tree to grow tall enough to be deemed worthy of adorning the top of someone's car. The last few times we have gone to western NC to get our tree, we play a game similar to "count the windmills"....Nebraskans know what I'm talking about. Anyway, as we head west, if you see a Christmas tree tied down to someones car, or in the back of a truck, you get a "point". However, if you call out "Christmas Tree!" only to find out what you thought was a tree was really a luggage rack, etc....you lose all of your points! It's really fun and we get quite competitive. As you can see, it was kind of a cruddy day for tree picking, but the frozen rain made everything look beautiful!
