Day Two - Ocracoke Island

Here we are on the Ferry going to Ocracoke Island. The only way to get to the island is by ferry or boat or I guess you could swim but i suggest the first two options. Anyway, we had to drive our car onto this huge ferry. I have never been on a boat like this before. The only boat I remember being on is my dad's little fishing boat he had...the kind you have to paddle! It was really fun and interesting. And we didn't get sea sick! Hehe!

This is the Ocracoke Island lighthouse. The last of the three. It was not as big as the others, but still pretty cool. It is currently being used and cared for by the U.S. Coast Guard.

Okay, so all over this island there are places where you can take your car out onto the beach and drive around like crazy people and that's just what we did. It was fun and a little nerve wracking. I felt like I needed to have a life jacket on just in case we got sucked in by a wave. Me, always the positive thinker!!! Andy had a ball and was waiting to do this all day long.
Andy, scaling the huge sand dunes. This is while we were waiting for the ferry to come back.

Day Two - Cape Hatteras

This is the Cape Hatteras lighthouse. It was my favorite and the tallest lighthouse in the U.S. This is not the original spot it used to sit on. They had to move it away from the beach because the beach was eroding away. Which Andy and I figured they could have restored the beach and saved lots of $$$$$. But they probably wouldn't have listened to us:-)

Here we are sitting on the steps leading up to the lighthouse. You can go up to the top, but it didn't open until April. We were disappointed.

This is the area where the lighthouse used to sit. It was a pretty beach with zero development anywhere. I saw a bunch of dolphins (maybe sharks???) jumping around in the water.

The lighthouse in it's new location and us in the old spot (or there abouts).

Day Two - Boide Island Lighthouse

This is the Bodie Island Lighthouse. It was the first of three lighthouses we visited on our drive down the Outer Banks.

Day Two - Jockey's Ridge

We decided it would be fun to go to Saudi Arabia!! Haha...just kidding. This was day two at Jockey's Ridge. It's a huge area of sand dunes that go forever. It's quite amazing and makes you feel like you are really in the dessert. It makes you really thirsty too!

Posing in the sand.

You see that small speck way far away? That's Andy. He decided to run up the dunes. He made it pretty far considering how hard it is to walk/run in sand. There were a group of girls clapping and cheering him on as he ran...then they saw me...then they stopped:-)
